Siding's On, Mud's Flying, and the Paint Brushes Are Ready
Things were still moving at Hens & Honey Ridge over the past few weeks, and it's finally starting to feel like we're building a cabin instead of just a construction project.
The biggest transformation has been the exterior. The siding is now completely finished, giving the cabin the cozy woodland character we envisioned from the very beginning.
Every time we drive up, it feels a little more like the peaceful retreat we've been dreaming about sharing.
To be honest, I want to live there.
Inside, the drywall has been installed and is in the final stages of being mudded. Once that's complete, it's my turn to get to work. I've already picked up all of the paint, so the next step will be priming and painting the walls.
Our interior doors have also arrived, and those will be getting a coat of paint as well.
Mudding in progress…anyone want to come clean drywall dust? 😆
Outside, another major milestone has been checked off the list with the septic tank now in place. It's one of those behind-the-scenes jobs that isn't glamorous, but it's a huge step toward making the cabin fully functional.
Just two brothers playing in the dirt... one crappy job at a time.💩
If you've been following along, you might remember my last update where our house had become a giant storage room for cabin supplies.
While it's still home to more boxes than I'd like to admit….but it's exciting to know those items will soon have a permanent home.
Looking ahead, the next few weeks should be some of the most exciting yet.
Our flooring arrived today, and our kitchen cabinets are scheduled for delivery on the 18th.
Once the painting is finished, we'll be able to install the flooring, cabinets, trim, and begin bringing in all of the furniture and finishing touches that will truly make the cabin feel like home.
Just look at that gorgeous morning light. ☀️
Our original goal was to have everything wrapped up by late summer.
Like most building projects, we've run into a few delays along the way, so our timeline has shifted a little.
Instead of welcoming guests this summer, we're now looking ahead to opening this fall.
While we're eager to finish, we're not rushing the process.
We want every detail to be just right so that when you arrive at Hens & Honey Ridge, you'll feel like you've stepped into a place that was built with care, intention, and a love for simple living.
Thank you again for following along on this journey.
Every update brings us one step closer, and we can't wait to share the finished cabin with you.
